Goin' to Lunch to Talk About Dinner
Tony M and The Jazz Sounds of Salvation

GENRE: Jazz: Jazz Vocals

“Goin’ to Lunch to Talk About Dinner” Tony M and the Jazz Sounds of Salvation (1998) is inspired by the “call” used by Tony’s Auntie Jan to get the Monaco clan moving at a family reunion in Boerne, TX on Thanksgiving Day, 1997. Tony completed the song on their way to the restaurant.

Well, friends:

While at a family reunion in Boerne, Texas over Thanksgiving of 1997, my sister-in-law Jan called out, “C’mon everybody, we’re going to lunch to talk about dinner!” I started kidding her with this made up song that got all of us laughing, and my nephew Ryan couldn’t stop kidding about it.

On the plane back to L.A., I couldn’t get the idea out of my head. So many people I knew felt guilty about their weight that I had found this scripture in Proverbs 15:30 (ASV) that seemed to give them a peace.

“The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart; And good tidings make the bones fat.”

I hope if you go to lunch to talk about dinner it’ll remind you to keep your heart happy and your eyes shining brightly forever.
